Wow. This is a superb shot. Did you use any filters on this one? Love how you captured the starburst.

Barbara Read Many thanks, Eugene! f/22 for the starburst and a polarizer to saturate the colors. We had been there a couple years earlier at the same time of year, so I knew where to set up in order to catch the sun just as it crested the horizon. For once my pre-planning paid off. ;-) Sadly, we only had a few minutes of beautiful light before the sun slipped behind a bank of clouds not to be seen again for many hours.

The BEST shot I've seen from Canyonlands, and I've seen a LOT. I'm also really excited to see that sunburst coming from the 17-40L! I haven't tried to shoot one with my new lens, but now I'm excited about it!! Brilliant comp and image

what did you use for flash on this?

Barbara Read No flash. The predawn light was very even on both sides of the arch. This was taken just as the sun peeked up over the horizon--not enough light to create much shadow yet.
