Such a huge talent. I love the skies that you capture in your pictures.
John Parminter  Thanks Ray, I often think that I am photographing weather phenomena and this is largely dictated by what is in the sky. I rarely even get the camera out unless there is promise of a decent sky and therefore as a result reasonable light.

I tend to walk around with a permanent crick in my neck due to looking to the skies.... ;-))

Very nice greasy rocks. That and the flat sea made me think there had been an oil spill for a minute.
I thought you must have used some serious grads on this. Interesting tip about the blue tones, thanks.

John Parminter  Greasy indeed, the bruise on my knee is still testimony to that..

A little tip for anyone who may be interested how I process beach and coast shots, I often remove nearly all of the blue shadow and midtones in levels but add back in selected areas the blue highlights, less blue makes a deeper and moodier orange/red hued image I reckon.

I can only say "this is what I am after". Making this kind of pictures must give you great satisfaction. I keep studying your photo's.

Thank you

John Parminter  Cheers Ben, I'm aways on the lookout for decent coast locations for sunrise or sunset shots. I woke at 4am to make sure I was here for sunrise and glad I made a reasonable shot, although I did slip on the rocks, dropped my camera, had to fish my filters out of a rockpool and bruised my knee in the process. All well worth it I guess... :-)

Hi ' Nice capture john, Can you write EXIF ...?
John Parminter  Hi Hamad.
D300, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, 0.9 and 0.6 ND graduated filter.
ISO 200, f/16, 1.3 secs, Cloudy WB.
Manual mode, spot metering and set the Active D-Lighting to Normal.
This was a tricky exposure as it was very bright in the centre but dark at the top and on the rocks. I had to use the Active D-Lighting in camera to lift the shadows slightly in the rocks then I tweaked a wee bit in Elements 5 to make the highlights sparkle a little.
