The Mashiach of Chabad -Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson
i believe some images are more iconic and last more even though they are not beautiful or have special light ....
photography isnt meant just for photographers but also to all people out there(mainly for them)..
the title of the book says: Mashiach(in big) pictures and moments

hahahaha... honestly I got my first opinion "how come this photo got published in here?" but after few seconds later on just realized how brilliant your idea Sasson.. Good one !
hahaha love it! And I share your sentiment, a picture doesn't need technical perfection to have a voice of its own. Though I'd be lying if I said this one isn't flawless in its own way
sasson haviv  thank you :) this image brought a lot of responses from many people (persons i know). through it i see that beauty can be a trap and that ideas and concepts are much more appreciated. i learned a lot througth this image
sasson haviv  responded twice by mistake

Super Sasson, I do enjoy your photography.
sasson haviv  thank you my friend !! i decided to take photography more seriously and grow with it. so now i try to publish more and do more documentation of the faith... however i dont want to repeat too much what has been done before so from time to time i am able to come up with an original image

Hi Sasson. I had to do a double take on this to actually spot what it was:) Great image, with a pleasant humorous undertone. Well figured out - I especially like that shadowy semicircle of the hat on the book - that 'ties' the image together for me. Congrats, and I am sure that this one will go a long way. I see this as the poster image when you do that 1st exhibition of yours!
sasson haviv  thank you my friend !! i think like you as well and already made it my profile image :) exhibition will take some time though...please share this one and the previous image with Viv. i think he will like them both..
I was so lucky with many small thing in this image and i am happy they all fit together

Very clever and interesting shot Sasson!
sasson haviv  thank you Brin! the chabad people have a great love for the Rebbe and this person preferred that we see the Rebbe than his face
Hah! What a capture! Indeed this is iconic! Being able to read the title adds a whole lot more, but it's one of those images that makes you intrigued right away. There are lots of layers to it, the more you know, the deeper you can dig and think. You are really doing some interesting work now! :)
sasson haviv  its older :) but i do like it a lot and believe it may become a famous image one day .... with the Hebrew it has a deeper meaning
thank you my friend !

"i believe some images are more iconic and last more even though they are not beautiful or have special light"
I could hardly agree more and find this image lightyears better than your previous one, if not the best of them all.
sasson haviv  i think so as well...
thank you Haver!

just great! the book in front of the face making the person behind it smiling :-)
An interesting language. even if our languages sound similar, we do not understand it. In London a friend and me got to know two Israelis. We had to laugh as we heard each other talking. It sounded so similar! Swiss german and hebrew :-)
I love this photo. Looking forward to see more.
sasson haviv  Thank you Tanya :) yes its sounds similar: all from the throat :) there will be more images i hope :)

You very clever person..you..:))) I wonder if you have been to the Brooklyn section where the orthodox Jews live? I have only passed through, but it is very interesting to learn their traditions. Even in NYC a little unusual because most, by far, are reformed. :) You are documenting the current approach to the faith in Israel. :) Wonderful. You will have book...My best, Phyllis
sasson haviv  thank you dear phyllis :) haven't been there yet but maybe one day ... maybe in a few months actually and then i will visit you as well
the book: maybe one day..... i would like but i know its not very economical

Hello Sasson,

intriguing idea! It took me a while to get it! Very good work also for the background you chose.

Robert
sasson haviv  thank you my friend:) initially it was taken in a different background and them i asked him if we can do it on the street where i found this wall to be more suitable..
for Hebrew readers it is easier to see that it is a book from the title
for me it was so clear so i am surprised that for others it is harder but thinking about it i understand that it is the language
Robert  For me as I saw it in screening I immediate know it is from you. But away from this the use of 4 elements, wall, the letters, black suite an head and the beard fits perfectly your composition!

Robert
sasson haviv  yes i was very lucky with the beard and that the wall was there to use

Clever idea:-)
sasson haviv  it does have an aspect of creative edit:) although no image manipulation..
thank you Ben:)
sasson haviv 2 years ago
by the way the funniest comment was
"visible editing, it is so clear that ,that face is not belongs to the body"
Balazs Pataki  Good to see that it got published nonetheless. Imagine if it wasn't, and you'd thnk that it was rejected for stupid reasons like this. You'd have ended up banging your head into the Kotel in despair :)
sasson haviv  yes :) well that may be my next image and its not a joke :)
but i am happy the screeners saw the impact of the image and chose to publish. now i have more motivation to publish this image in other places
other funny comment said that hands are sharper than the face and that the face is over exposed.... not my fault !
Faddoush 2 years ago
It took me a while to figure out that the face was a book...I though he was holding an empty frame...
sasson haviv  yes it is a book :) the face belongs to Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson... i love the chabad movement and i know how much they love the Rebbe

an instant favorite, my friend. what a great idea
sasson haviv  Thank you my friend ! i really wanted this to be published here and that many will see this image... its different but contains a strong impact for those who know chabad and the rebbe
sasson haviv 2 years ago
chabad is an orthodox movement that is loved by all Israeli's. they have chapters all over the world and are very well known in new york.... they belive that the Mashiach is the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson who passed away in 1994... it is the rebbe in the cover of the book and his picture is well known all over israel..
the man who lent him the body for the image wanted the rebbe picture to be shown and not his face.... he said who am i ? take a picture of the rebbe
The chabad movement has a very positive influence and brings closer secular and orthodox Jews.. in a country so separated like israel they are a uniting element
