A study in composition! I especially like the connection between the wheel and the white headlights. What an unbelievable spot you have found! That must be an incredible view seeing all the way from a bridge in York to the London Eye!

Great shot Mal. Composition and lighting superb. Is this an HDR composite? The cabins on the wheel are not blurred.

Hey Mal,
Great shot... I think this wheel (or one very similar) is now in Belfast, and I have already planned to go out on Wednesday evenining to photograph it!

Mal Smart just had a look at the link Adam, yes it is exactly the same wheel from the same company. You will have a heap of fun photographing it, I've been back to the York one so many times in different conditions and i find something new every time. Dusk is the best time before the sky gets too black. mal

Adam Murphy Wow, was it 8months ago I wrote this post!!! Haven't been around a while, but I did indeed take those photos of the wheel...

I don't thank any quite match yours for composition, but I did manage to capture the movement of the wheel without overexposing... and a few cars for effect.

I'll upload my favourit sometime soon, (although it prob won;t pass screening) and point you in the direction!

I think you have reworked this a little from the version on SC ages ago, the sky seems lighter and there is more detail in bridge. It stuck in my mind back then as being the definitive view of this landmark and this version is even better. So good in so many ways.

Mal Smart you are right Paul, it is re-worked. The irony is that I've done a lot less to this version to the one that I posted all that time ago. Cheers. mal
