What an amazing fish! Maybe not exactly a fish, but you get the point! ;) Great use of wide-angle if that's what you used!

Yes 10.5mm fisheye. I was about 1-2 feet in front of it!

Oh, and by the way, this is a great photo and one of the few portraits I have ever seen that does not contain the eyes of the creature. The remoras are great! Must have been really really close to get this

do you have any profile shots of the whale sharks you've seen? there is a project going to photo ID these guys with the hopes of getting a grasp on population numbers since they are so commonly photographed. If so I will send you the link.
