It would be perfect if she were a whippet, but still a 10 out of 10 : )

So striking and elageant. Such a class act. Attention to every detail by both model and photographer. In a day when it seems like the creative envelope must be pushed to farther and farther extremes, it is refreshing to see such a classic image make such a bold statement. Thank you King.
King Douglas  Praise from Caesar! Thanks very much, Keith.

Great to see this image published! This is a quality of photography I often miss here. Some real photography work!
This image reminds me of Irving Penn's images which I like a lot. So perfect, clean composition, and tones. The clear tones/contrast at her body towards the "a little murky" feeling of the background. Perfection! By the dancer and the photographer

I see the discussion about the skin tones. I didn't notice it myself, but it might be a big part of the image. I don't think I ever used that film myself. I know I had some of it, planning shooting with it. Just ended up getting old in a drawer (much like me..).
I think those a little special skin tones makes very much of this image.
King Douglas  Thanks, Lars. You can probably still have success with "expired" Panatomic-X. Perhaps you should give it a try just so you'll know what it was about.
Lars Grepstad  It's all gone now. Somebody asked for expired film a while ago. I used the opportunity to clean up a little. He got loads of film from me to play with

wonderful, King, the diagonal composition, and the space above her coin an atmosphere of flying art. The room, art needs. Great toning and light add to that here. Wonderful
King Douglas  Thanks, Christoph, for recognizing the importance of putting some room around the dancer. Do you agree with Codrin's comment that the skin tones seem unnatural? I, too, think they look a bit strange.
Christoph Hessel  I do not agree. It is a bit difficult to describe for me in english:unnatural here is no criteria for me.The way they are adds an artificial aspect in a positive sense. There is a great dynamic of light in the image diagonal from upper left to lower right. The body expression exactly fits that. Her skin represents that exactly again, the other way around (from bright in upper left to dark in lower right. The skin itself, especially in its bright parts, conveys a mood of elegance as well as a mood of elegiac. It appears as beeing out of touch with reality. Therefore I like the toning of her skin here as much because it is as surreal, as her body expression and the over all scene.
King Douglas  Ah, Christoph, you have added to my appreciation of my own photograph. I agree with all of your observations. Thank you very much!

Another magical image King, still it's something that bothers me in a way, the skin tones seem to me somehow unnatural, I guess that it's because of the film you used (35mm Panatomic-X negative film - I've searched a bit and it's a film used for creating slides, for projection onto screens). Could you please explain to me a little about this? Thanks! Wishing you a great Sunday!
King Douglas  Thank you, Codrin. Panatomic-X was a slow (ISO 32), very fine grained b/w negative film--not manufactured for slides but for extreme enlargements with minimal grain. I have created b/w slides (positive images) using a reversal process, but I don't remember if I used Panatomic-X. The slides came out very well, too. I agree with you about the skin tones. This image was scanned at high resolution from the original negative and it looks distinctly different from say Tri-X in Photoshop because of the relative absence of grain.

I submitted this image at the suggestion of Lars Grepstad who saw it on Facebook. I told him I thought it would be an instant reject (for various reasons) but out of respect for Lars, I gave it a shot and it is obvious that he was right. Personally, it is not one of my favorite dance photos, but others must see something in it.

As usual, thanks for your thoughtful insight. Have a great Sunday youself!
Codrin Lupei  Thank you very much for your reply King, I believe that you know that my comment is not a critique at all, it's just that I've always seen your images being so close to perfection as an image can get (with one exception)...and now, well, probably just my perception indeed being used to see almost images scanned from Tri-X and stuff...Take care of you!
King Douglas  Codrin,
Thank you again. I fear you are too generous. I must state publicly that I consider none of my images to be close to perfection.
Codrin Lupei  With all the respect, I have to disagree with you about this King! Sorry!

Your photos are dreams come true !
Grace, beauty, and so much work behind something which looks so simple (those words are aimed at the dancer of course, but at the photographer too !)
Let's just admire !
King Douglas  Thank you, Marie-Claude. Your comment makes me glad to have submitted this very old photograph (1972), which, I must admit, is not one of my favorite photos. I'm so glad you like it.

great composition my King
King Douglas  Thank you Fulvio. I think that you are saying, "simple is good," and I agree.
Fulvio Pellegrini  I wanted to say that in this kind of pictures you are a Master -)) or ...The Master. I hope You agree ...too
King Douglas  Then thank you once again, Fulvio. This photo is almost 40 years old. I plan on doing some new work with dancers very soon. We'll see if I am still the master! :>) Cheers, my friend.
Fulvio Pellegrini  Sure... You are

Balanced - physically-so and photographically!. Your exposure and tonal range lifts the image and presents it so well to us. My congratulations to you, King!
King Douglas  Thanks, Colmar, for the generous praise. We won't often see images shot on Panatomic-X. I don't know when the last roll was manufactured by Eastman Kodak. This was shot around 1972.
