Kiran and his Grandma
Kiran is a construction worker who is responsible for the finishing of the walls after the house is build. He paint the walls. I saw him on my construction site working and each time I looked out the window I saw him hard and continuous working. I took my camera and captured some frames. He approached me and asked me for what I make the pictures. I told him that I love photography. He invited me in his home to visit him what I have done of course. He told me his story which is sad but also full of courage and proud. His mother has passed away and his grandma raised him. His father has left the house and his grand father also passed away. I found both of them deeply connected and as I asked him how he manages his live he told me that it is his deepest responsibility to take care of his grandma. Both share this one showed room with a small chamber for cooking and washing. I asked him about his dreams and he answered me that he wants to marry a beautiful nice woman with a good heart who can help him to care about his grandma. He also wishes to have a little more money to give his grandma a better live. What is the message I take from him? It is a simple as it could be. We have to take care of our closest one with our full heart. It does not matter how poor or reach somebody is. The importance is to give your closest one the best of your heart.

Good luck to you Kiran and I am pretty sure you will find a good warm hearted wife!

Robert - I think this one is great example of India and its people....the wall hangings and then also the laundry hangings, the texture of those concrete like walls. Then the hands holding of Grandma and Grandson..which of course I identify with..so very much..having four grandsons. Your photo makes me see the similarities and the differences.....of cultures. Congratulations. Phyllis

I admire all your pictures, this one is no different. And the posters of deities clearly express the fatalistic views of majority of people from this region apart from portraying that they are deeply religious. And them holding hands depict their love towards each other which is wrongly thought of in other parts of the world. The other day I was with my dad walking down a mall in US and his one arms were around my solders (embracing me) and a couple of teenagers were looking at us with utter shock and disbelief almost saying A old man with youngish lover??
Wonderful work again.
Robert  Thank you for your comment Kaustubh.

A powerful portrait. Few photographers are able to do what You do so often, a double portrait. So difficult, as You need two strong personalities, in each a strong moment, and at that moment a powerful interaction. This is the art of street / portrait photography Robert.
Robert  Thank you so much for your words Christoph.
