A winter wonderland photo - the silence is what I experience on viewing your picture. The "snow" just adds to the mood, but doesn't break the silence!

A magical image Ursula, somehow you've captured a piece from the very essence of snowing, at least it's how I am feeling this! I love it!

So different from the "usual" view of any part of Wyoming. Beautiful.

Ursula I Abresch Wyoming is so very varied :) Very different also from where I live. When I first moved to British Columbia (after a detour in Ontario, but having lived in Wyoming for a long time before that), I found all the trees and "clutter" in nature quite annoying. I still love to go back to Wyoming whenever I can. But by now I find British Columbia astoundingly beautiful too. :)

If I'm not mistaken, this appears to be a real place. I'm so used to being carried, swept, seduced, enticed and otherwise transported through a mist of glamour to a more beautiful world when I look at your work. This is lovely, to state the obvious.

Ursula I Abresch Yes, it is, a real place that is. It's in Wyoming, in Yellowstone, by the side of the road to the left going south (looking west it would be), north of Madison Jct at a pullout close to Roaring Mountain. It was a strange evening. :)

Ursula I Abresch Yeah, I do too. I read somewhere that you can use flash to "freeze" snowflakes. I should try that sometime. This is at higher ISO, no flash, shallow DOF (thus all the different sizes of flakes). Thank you, Phyllis!

I really like dreamy, winter mood in this photograph. I think in its category is a very successful work. I do not read this work as a storm, quite the opposite, I see here a cold peace.

Really interesting composition. Most appealing appearance.
If it's allowed to say here, the only thing that wonders a bit is the fact that not a single reflection or snowflake can be seen over the upper part of the two bigger black trees. But I'm sure this is intentional.
Very fine image!

Ursula I Abresch Hmmmmm, I hadn't noticed that. I made the picture through the partly open passenger side window of my car, one evening when it probably would have been wiser not to be driving around. It was close to dark, and the light had that funny colour evenings sometimes get. It was snowing big, fat, juicy snowflakes that melted right away, but, strangely, it wasn't windy at all. I saw a coyote that night. It turned into quite a bit of snow overnight.
