Ricky, Well the comments before mine here were large so I could not help reading them and looking back at the b/w photo. One thing which interests me is that in the b/w the head in the background is turned to the side...like him..and in this color one..there is a painting behind him...different from the other background....looks like him.??? I hope he survives the cancer...i like them both in different ways. The bw feels more serious and this more playful. Congratulations Phyllis

Yes Phyllis, the objective from the project are Him and his stuff. So it's quite challanging tho. I have to be carefull not to put to many detail on the picture and I'd try not to move any stuff from his belonging. But on this picture I just can not stop my self to take the painting of him and just put it right behind him.

Yes he survive from his lounge cancer, after 5 year strugle with kemo and radiation.

My very personal opinion is that the black and white image you've shared a few months ago has so much more to offer in terms of subtlety and juxtapositions. Anyway this is a very good image for sure, I am just always a bit biased to see some b&w, color variations of the same motif. Congrats! Happy New Year Ricky!

Me too I am trapped to the BW world. But sometimes I did try to take some color picture too. But I admit that my color is not as strong as my BW tho :)

I like both, although with the use of colour and the different angle, the mood and story feel quite different :)

Ricky Siegers Hi Kim, I took both picture in the same time. I made this picture requested by him as a project that he survive from cancer.
He want me to the his portrait with all element that he have in his house and his shop / galery.

I got many of them, and beside that he is my father in law :) he's quite eccentric.

I disagree with the critic that comes before me. I'm not really able to recognize him, but the background gives me an help to understand that he surely is a very important personality because of the picture and the sculpture. I think it's a great journalistic shot and so so natural. Great sharpness.

Do not know just who it is?
but assuming it is not a family protrait
but think background is too messy and cropping is not good

Ricky Siegers Hi Keller, I do respect your comment. Everybody have their own way to see art form (or what ever you going to call).
But this is the way I want to make this picture with everything in it. This is my story and I respect everyone who come with their own way to judge my picture :)

Monica Stuurop Agree with Jole. I can almost reed the label on the statue. Maybe i could have seen who he is :-)
But about the picture, the twinkle in his eyes and the way he is staring makes it an interesting portrait for me. Yes it is a busy picture i agree, but it is taken in his own surrounding with his personal items. The fact that he is holding his remote control tells me he is watching tv. This picture tells a story. I like it very much. You have wrote your comment on this picture and that made me look at it even closer. Thank you (i really mean that!) Not everyone sees things in the same way. That makes the world more interesting!
