Wonderful shot Dennis! It portraits the animal, it shows behaviour, it shows environment (love those patches of snow in the background), it has action and a true sense of capture-the-moment. The tiny white stripe on top of the eye shows how irritated the animal is, and the glowing edges on the antlers is a nice visual detail, making them stand out against the background. So many facets and yet such a simple, clean picture. Very good!

Dennis I guess this is here because of the nature of the content but I find the image lacking in many ways. the light on the front of the animal is poor the highlights only confirm that & the background is far more distracting than I would ever accept. But then perhaps this publication is a sound reason why I may need to review my own quality control system. Am I missing the point? I wonder?

You're comment is by far the most the most negative I ever recieved on this website but I try to learn from every comment.

It's a pity you don't like the picture because I think it's a funny one.
The light on this Spitsbergen Reindeer on the front is less than normal as you would expect shooting in to the sun, for me it enhances the golden rim around around the reindeer.

The background as usual is what it is, at least it does not bother me. In this case I had no other choice. I was shooting birds when something or someone scared the animal and it started to run. There was no time to worry about the background.

The fact that this picture is published here does not mean it's the best picture ever made, it just means somebody at 1x.com likes it just as much as I do.

To me you're comepletely missing the point, if you think this picture should not have been published you should point you're frustration at the moderators of 1x.com, not at me.

gerard sexton Dennis thank you for your honest feedback. I respect your work & consider some of it as highly as any other on this site it has every right to be here as does this image. So I haven't said your image should not have been published just pointed out some aspects of it that I find detract from its quality & stand by them. I have not missed the point! But you are obviously antagonised by my remarks otherwise you would not have referred to them twice in your replies to others as if to in someway discredit my remarks. If I were you I would lighten up put my remarks into context the only detractor in 28. Have a nice weekend! Chill out.

Dennis Binda there are hardly any insects on Spitsbergen so I had no trouble with them.
the reindeer in the north of Finland have a mosquito problem but otherwise I can't think of any.
