Pity that the colors are so unsaturated because geisha wear brightly colored kimonos. I am not a great fan of blurred edges either.
Matti Sedholm  Yes, I know that the Kimonos are very colorful, but I desaturate most of my Geisha and maiko photographs to suit the mood I am striving to convey. I am very inspired by early japanese photography as well as the western photographers that went to Japan in the middle of the 1800's. Sometimes I vignette and sometimes I do not but for this series ("Maiko") I have experimented some with this. I am not sure wether this will be the last version of these images I make. We'll see.
I went into your portfolio and I must say I really like your work. A favourite of mine is "Man with a dog".
