155min of exposure with 25cm F5 reflector amateur telescope.

M65 below,M66 left abobe,NGC3628 right above
are dancing each other.
They are under gravitational interactions and possible of merger far in the future.

I thought that stars would move considerably with the 155 min exposure. How did you deal with that?

Since Galileo Galilei we know that our old earth is not at the center of the Universe and his turning on it's own and around the sun

To avoid the startrail effect (which appears at about 30s exposure) the telescope must be
1/ on an equatorial mount (to correct the tilt of the earth)
2/ motorised to compensate the rotation speed of earth

It's quite tricky to set up the telescope for this shot, it needs quite some experience

Yasuaki San is for sure not missing this experience !!! added with his aesthetics approach, we have those wonderfull and unusual pictures

evh-fotografie  Hi Anna, I think he's using a telescope with a motor in it, so it's turning slowly with the stars
Georgikopoulos Manolis  I believe that the telescope has a mechanisms that moves according to the movement of the stars!
Benjamin Jung  No, the telescope is mounted on a mechanism that compensates for the rotation of the earth! :)
Chris Dixon  I understand that you take multiple exposures, and I mean hundreds, of shorter time then use software to stack them. This reduces the noise that would other wise build up. Perhaps we should ask Yasuaki San for a Tutorial
