Orions belt stars region
Taken with a thermos bottle size small telescope.
Red hydrogen gas clouds with reflection nebulas near the famous 3 belt stars in the center belt part of Orion constellation.
This is the very place where stars are born.
Total exposure time is 160min one of the longest I have ever done to show the very faint background gas clouds.

M78 nebula left below and Horsehead nebula in the centre
left abobe is Orion nebula.

Please view with a dark background setting clicking the round shape icon on the right bottom of the picture.

Thanks

How did you get that picture with 160min exposure and no star trails? I don't get it. btw great photo!
YASUAKI SEGAWA  The telescope had been mounted on an euatorial mount which has a motor drive making slow rotation syncronized with star rotation,so from the camera the stars seemed to be stopped.
I also used a sub small 3cm telescope with a small auto guiding camer attached
which can trace the star rotation perfectlly sending correction signals to the motor drive.
I do not open the sutter for that long time which is too risky with winds and airplanes around.
5min x 32 shots are finally selected and stacked in PC and some failed shots abandoned beforehand.
Ante Simicic  Thanks for the detailed instructions. I'm really interested in taking star photography. A friend of mine is buying a telescope and i would buy a motor. How much would it cost? Can you recommend one? Once again great photos.
YASUAKI SEGAWA  I use Japanese telescope maker : Takahashi company's equatorial mount EM200, though for smaller telescopes much smaller mounts with resonable prices will be available. In this case I used Takahashi FS60CB telescope which is only about 2 KG in weight. If you like that size EM-11 from Takahashi will be strong & powerful enough.
There will be a lot cheaper mounts from other company and if you can add auto guider+small guide scope to correct the motor gear periodic error , I think a lot cheaper one will also be no problem to keep good quality pictures.
