What I find especially interesting is the crest on her cap. Because the red/white striped lion on blue ground is the crest of the german federal state Hesse (that's where I come from). More precisely, this seems to be the crest of the Hessian police (see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hessisches_Landeskriminalamt). I wouldn't expect that to appear on a girls cap in Romania. Do you have any information about the origin?

So many portraits lack a real story, even on 1x for me. I love the reality edge in this image, the harsh environment and the fact that you didn't feel the need to go to town on her face and give her an artificially ultra-smooth complexion in post processing. The image actually says something about life in the Eastern block - excellent work...
