The viewer can see the wisdom of an adult's life reflected his gaze through the lens of his glasses.
Are these old Jews?

Excellent portrait.
gerard sexton  Thank you no he is Irish.

Such an enigma this image - that classic face and hair, so sculptured, and then the shadow, reminding me that this was a portrait shot in the park:) This chap is made for the studio! Compliments with this mind twister Gerry.
gerard sexton  Cheers Andre take what you can get is my motto if it works then fine! This was a rejection some time back I resurrected it with a crop & some new PP skills!

Gerry, Now that is hair! Like the way it blows around some....Excellent portrait..the park sounds like it could become your outdoor studio. :) congratulations. Phyllis
gerard sexton  ...sure is says a great deal about a man at his age with this look. Single? vain? bohemian? artist? writer? all fit singularly & collectively but he was apparently a city worker some sort of trader or dealer? His suit was immaculate accept for the shreaded trouser bottoms that were worn because they dragged the ground. The parks are my studio they have been for the last 6 years & they may soon become my source of income but more of that later! Hope you are well & thank you for your considered feedback.

A very interesting character, almost like cropped from some fabulous books! Congrats Gerry!
gerard sexton  Codrin my friend how are you? nice to have you stop by. Yes a real life story book character. I don't know if you know him but JP Donleavey an American Irishman! wrote a few books in the sixties one was called the Ginger Man that was my first choice of title. Thanks as always for stopping by!
Guido Brandt 10 months ago
That's definitely one hairy character - he should have been cast for Harry Potter!
Great portrait Gerry! Congratulations, Guido

I wish I knew this guy!
gerard sexton  He certainly was a character & his being Irish certainly added to his charm. But thats the attraction someone with facial hair & flowing locks like this has to be sort of eccentric don't you think. Thanks for your feedback
Lauren Grace  Yes. I agree!

Christoph Hessel 10 months ago
the light in his hair is great Gerard, The b/w too, and so a wonderful portrait is created. Congrats
Christoph
gerard sexton  Thank you Christophe a face full of character the glasses slightly annoy me but he was not very good at listening to me instructions was shy & in a hurry.
Christoph Hessel  The glasses always are a problem in portrais as far as perfectin is concerned. this is clearly to see as street. As here are much more impressive parts, They did not disturb me at all

Ricky Siegers 10 months ago
Excellent portrait Gerry, I like the details !
gerard sexton  Thanks Ricky I always thought this was special just had to evolve the PS skills to get the finish right honestly the original is probably stronger but this crop sort of takes us into his beard!
Ricky Siegers  well done Gerry :) nice picture indeed !
very well done, Gerard! A wonderful portrait of a "retired gentleman". You do not mean he is not a gentleman anymore, do you?
gerard sexton  Merci Fred je suis tres content! Non, il est certainement encore un gentil homme. Bon semaine!
Colmar Wocke 10 months ago
Well done on this one - his relaxed personality come through strongly foir me. Congratulations!
gerard sexton  Hi Colmar this is a wonderful surprise to see this published. It was taken two years ago & on the first attempt it was knocked back busy background poor b&w conversion. He was very shy but had a few stories once worked in the city & originally from Ireland! Thanks for your comment hope you are wel!l
