Aurora over Rusty Shack
The Aurora was really active this early September night. Scientist are predict rising levels of activity this winter and until 2013. Some even say that in 2013 a huge solar storm will occur putting electric systems and devices at risks world wide. I for sure will be putting my camera at risk then by pointing it skywards a that time. Maybe I should start constructing a magnetic shield box for it hehe. Lets see.

incredible colours, both on the shack and in the sky offcourse. I guess you would be shielded inside that shack since it is mostly metall, you could move in. looks vacant :)

gorgeous capture as usual Orvar. Love how you captured cloud streaks with the longer exposure as well as static stars. Did you blend a long and short exposure together?
Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson  Thanks Doug. No this is not a blended exposure. As often in Iceland this was a windy night with some scattered low clouds moving fast.

Amazing Shot.
How do you think an anti-magnetic box to construct.
Maybe in metal mosquito mesh, or something similar.
Remains that there is always the need of an opening for the objectiv.
Would the Faraday cage principe stay with a big hole for lens.
Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson  It will be tricky to construct. Maybe I should have a fully manual film camera with me aswell in case my construction fails.

Awesome aurora shot.
I like how the green lines lead from the right side of the building, on up to the top of the frame...
Also, the rust colors are very complimentary to the green aurora lights.
very nice shot

Quite wondrous. I hope I will be able to see an aurora with my own eyes some day.
