Fine b&w range with measurable definition even in the highlights, not to mention the composition. Rare to see so many degrees of tonality. Lovely work, Jeremy.
Jeremy Russell  Thanks Robert.

This just clicked for me. I noted the other day that you were from Canberra - where I did high school and uni.

Then when going through the shots that made the book, I noticed "Carillion" and then like a whack in the face with the pointy end of a pineapple I had complete recognition of the scene and that elevator door.

I have in fact been up in there - it has a rather nice apartment up there with toilet, shower, lounge room, kitchen and small bedroom....

Anyway, as I kid, I would always ride my bike around the lake and stop off there for a break. It is quite surreal to see a photo here of a place so far, far away in time and geography that I used to go to so often!

This is a really beautiful image, Jeremy: superbly composed, with a beautiful tonal range and such a clever use of the light available. Truly remarkable!

It takes a good eye to see a beautiful composition in a simple scene like this. You did it perfectly. And the B/W tones are just right to show off this scene. Congratulations too on having it featured on the front page! It looks good that way. :)
Jeremy Russell  Ursula,

Thankyou for your comment.

It has been a wonderful privilege for the image to featured on the front page, great to get the positive feedback and for it to be viewed by so many who may not have seen it before.

I think this particular image is a good example of the thread that runs through much of my work, capturing what I like to call "The Silent Moment". I think my work is at its best when it is an expression of quite contemplation, when it lingers in the mind and grows with each viewing.

Cheers,

Jeremy

I have replied to Apurva in the Forum.

I am very annoyed with him pushing his agenda at his dissatisfaction with elements of OE here on my image.

I was happy to let this pass and engage him in conversation on his thoughts on the image. It now appears he was not interested in a conversation on this image and the image was means to an end to raise the topic.

I believe that any artist here on OE deserves to be treated with respect and comments on their creative output should be purely related to the image and offered in good faith.

Criticism allows us as artists to grow and should take the form of a conversation, not a one way street.

Matters relating to the site should be brought up in the appropriate forum area.

Jeremy

I love the scale of this. The "brick" size reads like a normal building brick, making the door appear miniature. Great comp; great eye.
Jeremy Russell  Thanks Richard, that's one of my likes about the building too, cheers.

This great variety of lines is just perfect. It is a geometrical picture without being abstract at the same time combined with an enviable control of light.
