Beinn Dearg Mor
Beinn Dearg Mor and a view into the Fisherfield Forest. This area in the NW of Scotland is some of the remotest in the UK, this view taken from the summit of An Teallach on a fine summer morning.

Gruss Franz

John, the large vista is wonderful - looks like the land of honey...and I have to add that the particular blues and greens in this are just wonderful..glad to see you are giving them a chance...what I notice is that each time the sun or shadow strikes the colors it makes the colors look different..in shades...and that really adds to the look. Congratulations.Phyllis
John Parminter  The colour combination has traumatized me ever since I took it though Phyllis, just about getting over it now... cheers.

Wonderful image, John !
Very beautiful image in wonderful colors and a good light !
I really love that natural look you have in your landscape-images.
It`s a nice gesture from your side to mention which graduated ND-filer you have used here.
I do know that it´s rather easy to calculate the "strength" of the necessary filter, but it gives me a good idea in terms of what filter will be suitable for images like this.
I´ve purchased 6 ND-filers a couple of months ago - 3 with hard edge and 3 with soft edge, and I`m planning to use them on landscapes in Sweden and Norway this summer.
Before that I´ve only used a Graduated ND 0,9-filter in low light around sunset to get milky water.

Congrats with another great image !

Regards

Henrik
John Parminter  Actually Henrik, I had to guess that I used a 0.6 ND grad as I took this image a year ago and my memory has faded but I think it is correct and considering that the light was with me and not against me and there was plenty of ambient reflected light around I believe I guessed well. I do know it was a soft filter for sure though... :-)

What a beautiful place and a beautiful work, John.

Best wishes, Marei
John Parminter  Indeed it is Marei, a remote area with some rugged hills that are great for exploring, I'm heading into this area later this year as there is some of the best views in whole of UK deep within this landscape. JP

Lovely photo John. I slept in Shenaval last night, and Beinn Dearg Mor is hard to stop gazing at. Back in Edinburgh now... oh well.
John Parminter  The view of B-D-M is fab from Shenaval and is on my list to do in Autumn/winter when the greens have subsided and a bit of snow around, I might even climb it as well...! cheers Mike.
