Wow.
Super, Nicolas.
It succeeds on so many levels, this one.
Atmospherically, texturally, compositionally, mysteriously, processingly... Errr... That?s not a word, is it?
Anyway, moving on...
Compositionally it is grounded by the hint of solidity in the strip of riverbank (or lakeside) that runs along the base of the image, whilst the top fades up into featureless infinity.
Luuurvely.
The mood is stillness with a hint of melancholy; and this is perfectly conveyed to the viewer.
The apocalyptic, semi-submerged tree trunks and branches are a perfectly balanced compositional counterpoint to the glassy surface of the water and the mist and fluffy foliage in the background.
Even the blown highlights in the surface of the water, bottom-right, are utterly irrelevant as any kind of technical flaw as the effect adds so much the compo, leading the eye down a path to the gap in the tress and the suggestion that this is a body of water whose story continues way beyond the extremities of the image.
It could be a lake, or a river, or an estuary...
No matter.
The story then has even more mystery.
Niiice.
