Dynosaur Rock
Classic location amongst Icelandic photographers as well as visiting ones. The old magma intrusion that has withstood the wear and tear of the elements is the only thing visible of an ancient volcano. The much weaker surrounding rock has been eroded away by hundreds of thousands of years of wind and waves.

This is the third time I visit this place, the first time the weather was crappy, the 2nd time I got some good shots. This time I wanted to get the ripples in the sand below the rock formation on low tide at sunset. I planned it ahead as this night the tide was suppost to be low around the time of sunset. When I arrived there after 3 hours of driving from Reykjavik it was still surrounded with water. I guess it does not only need a low tide, but a very low, low-tide as the tides where not that powerful this time.

Well, I will have to return at a point when the tide is lower. Always good to have a reason to come back.

The sunset was not that spectacular either. Mostly just cloudy with a yellow strip near the horizon. I therefor decided to wait 3 more hours for the sunrise. Patience paid off as the sunrise was as spectacular as the sunset was not.

Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson  To bad to hear that. But that is landscape photography, luck is a part of that.

Great colours and big composition. It's great you have been patience for the sunset. Did you use 3-4 stop gnd filter?
Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson  Thanks Ammon. I do not remember exactly which combination of GND filters I used but I suspect it to be 2 stop hard and 3 stop soft.
