you are so much drawn to his lovely open face...the picture makes you feel you are right there. i love the cacophony of color and objects in his house......such a mix, but then there is that lovely rather delicate cup of tea which, after his face, my eyes are drawn down to.

Nicolas Marino Yes, tea it is my friend, Tibetan butter tea. It has a layer of tea, salt and a thick layer of yak butter....first time you drink it you feel like spitting out but the truth is, it fills you with energy and provides the fat Tibetans need to cope with the harsh environment, that's why they drink it. THanks a lot Phyl ! =)

Andre du Plessis Every time I open the artist's page this likable (spelling?) face jumps out at me. A very strong and pleasing portrait this is, and it is growing on me really fast:)

Nicolas Marino I am glad I changed to this one as member photo then =) . You should see the ones I have of him smiling (xxx for 1x), he was truly a kind man. Like most tibetans you can see this kindness empathy in their faces, Him and his family gave me shelter during a terrible snow storm that had caught me on the way. My photo, "riders on the storm" is the place where they live, the house overlooks that lake at about 4200mts above the sea level. I stay in touch with them through their daughter. She told that when they received the whole set of photos they were incredibly happy and would stop thanking me. That was bliss Andre, and I know very well you understand the feeling more than well. Thanks a lot for the comment :)

me encanta! congrats Nico. Great light on his face! flash? available light? There seems to be quite a bit of light inside the house too. Very well done. You give that 14-24 a nice workout, huh? ;) is it the only one you bring along on the bike?

Nicolas Marino Gracias Dani =). Available light only. It is really beautiful how light filters through the small windows of the big Tibetan houses. It does this wonderful effect. Also, we weren't close to the window but in the middle of the room which was great because of the shadows that the objects between us and the window cast. Well the 14-24 yes, it's easily one of the best lenses Nikon ever produced. I spend 99% of my cycling trips cursing (puteando) its size, weight, shape but when I shoot with it and see the results it's all magically gone. I also carry 24-70 + 70-300 and 50 1.4 + 1 Sb 600.... pretty heavy aye ? :S
