More often than not the lighter backs avoid second row forwards because they can inflict serious damage as they are usually much heavier though far less nimble. On this occasion the second row forward came off better!

Another great action shot from you Gerard
Looking at their expression we can imagine the rudness of the collision
Seems that the 11 has a litlle deficit of weight compared to his opponent :)
gerard sexton  Merci Fabien but its like normal kilo for kilo the little ones have the edge often because of agility but here well I guess honours even! as no real advantage accrued to either player.

Excellent Gerard, I remember so clear that a so 'close dance' made me give up with rugby, when a friend almost died on the playing field...Well, a beautiful sport for sure! I still love to look at it!
gerard sexton  Codrin it is indeed a brutal sport I played on & off for over 30 years. There is an expression in England about the comparison to football; football is a game played by gentlemen watched by hooligans rugby is a game played by hooligans watched by gentlemen! I know of a story where two brothers played in a friendly match on opposite sides they both found themselves attempting to take the ball & one hit his head on his brothers knee he died instantly! But the danger is relative. Thank you as always for your supporting words.

Gerry, Just about to climb the wooden steps when I saw your image here...Well, what always surprised me is how they do this without equipment! I am surprised more players are not injured. I suppose that is why they get the big bucks.. It almost looks like he is biting him..The position of Number 11 makes me think that either one or both of them went down right after this...did they? Get action shot - you got here...:) Best, Phyllis
gerard sexton  Hi Phyllis it is certainly not a game for wimps & as for being paid the guy in the red shirt probably has a day job though his bigger opponent gets paid though on the scale of things they are hardly in the football players league when it comes to remuneration. And as to what happened next he managed to struggle free & make a few more yards but then got enveloped by more players. Once the player holding the ball is floored he has to release the ball so the objective is to stay on your feet until you can be sure your team mates can recycle the ball otherwise the opposition can take it. Have a nice week.
Phyllis Clarke  Thanks for the explanation. :))
