Pine for Slioch

Slioch is the prominent mountain that rises above the shores of Loch Maree in the N W of Scotland. The area also has remnants of the ancient and native pine trees that once covered this area after the last ice age.

It's such a delicate and sublime picture. Wellbalanced landscape.It gives me a relaxed feeling. I want to go to that tree and sit down, drink coffee and gaze at the surroundings. :)

John Parminter That's more or less exactly what I did John, only had to wait half an hour for the light to briefly appear, I just sat next to my tripod, drank tepid coffee out of my flask and idled the time away...I'm getting lazy!!

What a great picture and it feels so natural. I like how the low angle of the light is picking out branches on the tree.

John Parminter Cheers David, just the light at work here, I didn't even have to use any filters for this shot, simply just spot metered off the brightest branches and let everything else fall into place.

A fine composition and realistic rendition of the colours of the Highlands, John. It's great to see a shot which preserves the subtleties of the tones from the West instead of glowing HDR's which plague many landscape photographs of late.

Brown is my favourite color after all, already one reason to like this. Straight forward and clear composition and its all natural feel make this a lovely landscape image.
