Its a pity the child is not looking at you or at least facing in the direction of the camera as this would have resulted in a much stronger image. Perfect image for B&W. I would like to see it in Sepia too. The vignette is over done though.

Barbara Read Thank you, Mark for your observations and suggestions. :-) This was my first opportunity to photograph a pow wow where the light was half decent. My first one I attended was underneath a large, dark 'tent' with open sides--back when I was still shooting film. It's difficult being discrete and respectful photographing during these events and my limited experience is that the backgrounds are terrible. All in all, it made for a fun but challenging day. I will keep your suggestions in mind for later this summer's pow wow.
