A dipper hitting its preferred prey, a caddisfly larvae, on the water surface to get the larvae out of its housing.

This was yours! I loved it in screening, so much action for such a little subject. I love these pictures that show birds (or animals) in true action, in their environment. I've watched dippers in mountain streams, working in and around the water the way you show here, and they are so much fun to watch. Thank you for the photo.

I have a question ... what lens do you use for pictures like this? I occasionally fantasize that I would like to try and shoot birds, but I doubt my macro lens would work for it.
Johan Lind  Thanks Ursula a lot for that long comment. I agree with you completely, dippers are great to watch. This is taken with the Canon 500 mm f/4 + 1.4x TC. It's such a superb combo.
