Great concept & the details on the ball really hit me. I really wonder where the camera/photographer is hidden? Behind the starlight?
Dave Nitsche  Yup. I'd like to say the star was always my intention but it wasn't. I kept showing up in the ball. Didn't want to clone it out so I put a flash on it. It was purely an after thought. :D Thanks

Dave - you did it again! You brought out a concept in a way that is so clever...It is so wonderful that you only only have the idea but that you can carry it out in a way that is so appealing to look it. You even made the gun end up looking timid. :) Pray? I love it...Phyllis

Very cool Dave, be careful with that thing!

Superb! Always amazed how there is no sign of the camera in the reflections in your work :)
Dave Nitsche  Hey Kim, that's what the star is there for I actually had a flash set at about 1/32nd power just to block my ugly mug. Without it I'm there staring like an idiot. Some have asked about details and I hope they find this response. Chrome really isn't that hard to shoot when you learn how to bounce light effectively. The 'half moon' pattern in the sphere is actually a piece of foam core with a flash bouncing off it. I used two other small pieces with flashes bouncing off them. The white of the paper creates a nice soft 'white' off the chrome. Ton's of fun when you figure the stuff out. Getting the right angles of the paper can be fun and keeping them out of the reflections can be a challenge but it's all good. Hope this helps some. :D Thanks to all the comments. Much appreciated.
Kim Ayres  I have photographed handmade jewellery for a friend before now, and come across the extraordinary problems of shooting reflective surfaces. After arranging white sheets, umbrellas and sheets of card with a hole cut out to poke the camera through, I gained a new respect for anyone attempting it. One of the trademark aspects to your images is the crisp clarity, and so often using glass, metal and liquids, that I am, frankly, in awe of what you manage to achieve - all the more so because of my own struggled attempts :)

Amazing finish in this one, Dave.
I don`t know if the word "finish" is the right word for it, but maybe you can enlighten me, Dave.
I mean that this image is so "smooth" and "clean".

The comp. and light are splendid, and the red ball and the "star" above are brilliant details.

Congrats !

Oh goodness, now you're out there buying guns! Dave, Dave, Dave, no good, you know. The gun, I mean. But you certainly have mastered lighting on metals. I like the star reflected in the metal ball. I also like it that the little red ball is reflected in the tip of the gun. I have a hard time looking at the picture long though, because I just have such a knee-jerk reaction to guns.
