A Rare Moment
The New York Sewers are alive with gators. A worker was bit but the gator got the Lid. The worker fences are up out of frame. I crossed them to show this shot that often we think is a myth. What happens is that New Yorkers .. as dumb s they are , go to Florida and buy baby gators as pets. They are fed well by the owners and they grow. The owners ger scaed and flush them down the toilet. Once in the sewer system, the gators look at everything as possible dinner. In the sewers are tons of rats for gators to eat. The problems are when the gators get to big the city workers be come the meal. Well there you have it. A real gator; with a sewer lid on it in the streets of the new York Cityscape..

if it wasn't for the info, i would've had a totally different impression. The first impression was this supposed to be some sort of rubber toy, half squashed with a sewer lid like pattern. The black and white really doesn't help the story. In color there would've been color contrast between the live alligator and the pavement and the lid.

Still, a rare moment (and picture). Is there a color version somewhere?

Bravo, Wings!

Great!
Wings  Thanks KPK. Just know if you don't watch where you set your camera in the streets of New York. You could fall into a man hole and become lunch or dinner to a "gator" as Milch und Blut Wurst. :))

I like this. It is funny, and the thumb was irresistible. How this was made is of no importance to me - hugely enjoyable image.
Wings  Andre that is so true.

The story is as good as the picture! Audition for SLN...they will love you. It is an adorable picture. The best part for me is how CLEAN the sewer top is...I hope you took him back to Florida. :)
Wings  I don't have pets. If I had a pet it would be the 24mm f 1.4.
Wings  The ASPCA people got there in time. The NYPD wanted to club it. It did go to animal care and it was very mad.

Just one thing to say........B O G U S. You should have at least used a rubber alligator that looked genuine. This one looks like a zebra version of a reptile... B O G U S.!
Wings  Bogus I think means shallow on your hehalf. I did touch up the white and I like it.. . cheers girl friend.

by the way, I can imagine a movie about this, with Gators roaming the sewers and spreading horror and panic, would make a nice thriller.
Wings  You know I think there are a few B movies like that. title list, the gator that had its way with me, That not just any log floating in the sewer, and Don't Floridacate Our New York City. :)))
Andre du Plessis  .....and biting at Balazs's balls:)
..... that was HIS idea ....
Wings  Andre . I figure a few of you big ball shooters would be a prime lunch for a Florida gator. But 90 % of the gators go back to more natural snacks. Oh this is sick.
Andre du Plessis  Big ball Shooters. is that NY talk- or some colloquialism I am not familiar with? Maybe you can explain ...
Fadi Tarawneh  looooooooooooooool!! well every horror movie needs some comic relief :)

Wings only you could pull out such a shot, fantastic to say the least!
Wings  Thanks Fadi, I think this image carries some wild humor.. I this is needed here to re-bond all the old friends that have knocked heads with each other. I think its healthy. Glad this is good medicine for all.
Wings  :)) When you come to New York I think I know someone tour guide that wrote about the safest and worst places to use a facility in New York City. Or if you know any snow birds from here never use their rest room. They bring them back as pets and flush sometimes at the wrong size. So you know they just hang round.:))) So bring Olive oil.,,Extra Virgin. Hey ths sounds like a Greek myth. You know the Minotaur. Oh the Gatataur. hehehehe

...and without the narrative I would imagine a new American toy half industrial half prehistoric. Interesting & bizarre in equal measure & strangely a compelling image because I stopped & looked twice!
Wings  Yeah I guess no different to the great white hunters in the Uk that let their pet wild Cats from Africa and India out when they get too big.
Love your freaky stories from NY Wings:)
Cheers!!
Wings  We forget New York is made up of some strange people. Like snow birds that go south to Florida, Like the people that live under ground in the subways. Not to mention that New York is a city of rip offs where you find some of the most intelligent people ignorant and believe they can do what ever they want to do and not care about the problems they cause. The people are no different than the industries that disregard a healthy code of life should they choose to stay. New York is just a toxic place. Thanks for enjoying the freaky side. I guess for the most part we are took blind, and choose to see the pretty things.

are you kidding me Wings??!!! what a story that you got about the gators in NY sewers.
By the way, it's brilliant shot. Excellent!!!
Wings  These things do happen. But its no different than the rumors of eccentric Brits that let their wild pets loose once they become dangerous in the house hold.

Poor guy...
ha, really rare photo.
Wings  I felt the same way.
Wings  But rare images are a hit and miss. Rare can be found in my gallery. Rare never follows a trend.
Dragan M. Babovic  That is the point, e different but speak by universal language. Strange. Just yesterday I was in the car listening to the radio, here in Belgrade, Serbia. I just talked about how the New York cast a small alligators in the sewers and that these grow to full size when big problems arise. And you putting this picture. Thanks. Regards.

Imagine you're sitting in the restroom of the Waldorf Astoria and a beast like this bites of your balls.
Wings  Balazs what you need to know is what Flavor they go for first then invite the people on your love list over and allow them to use your rest room. So now that we are on the subject.. In the south west its Black Widows underneath the rim so you are hung your bound to become a shorty. In Florida and other swamp areas gators are a problem. Even a simple flat on gator alley, a flat tire at night could be the end of you from a 12 foot gator when you get out your car to inspect the tire.

lol... it almost looks as if evolution created this urban gator, perfectly blending in in its urban environment by making its head look like a NYC sewer lid.
Wings  I thought it was a New Yorker at first until the tail and foot moved.
Koen Pieters  "until the tail and foot moved"
and then you knew for sure. ;)
Marek Weiss  agree!
