Finally

After 7 attempts, I finally got decent weather at this rocky section of coastline. This image was inspired by a fantastic shot from this location by the incomparable Marc Adamus. I happened to run into Marc here, and he was kind enough to share some wonderful pointers and compositions at his home beach

Nicely done Miles, I love the reflected warm light off the rocks. I also like how the lower diagonal lines of surf enter the image in the corners. keep em coming!

You met Marc Adamus wow and you took this great picture I'd say that must have been a great evening. :)

mm767cap It was indeed Alexander. I've run into Marc a few times shooting now, and he is as good a guy as he is a photographer. He is very generous at providing helpful tips and showed me some of his favorite shooting locations. Many photographers wouldn't DREAM of doing that.

Very beautiful image! Did you use filters? If so, what did you use for the adapters? a lee filter holder and wide-angel adapter? Thank you

mm767cap Thanks so much Joakim. I used a 6 stop ND filter to slow down the shutter speed for water movement. It required a blend of 5 images to control the huge dynamic range between the sun and the dark rocks. I did a bunch of hand blending to put it together. I shoot with the 16-35 II, which has an 82mm filter size, but doesn't require adapters.
