Final Moments
This picture is a dedication to my grandmother.

87 and suffering from Alzheimer's, in the last couple of months, my grandmother seems to have developed premonitions of her passing and as such has, on many occasions, called up one of her children asking that everyone go to her old age home to see her one last time as she "doesn't think she'll make it through the night."

It got me to thinking - what and how I would feel if I were in a real live situation facing imminent death...and what I would say.

My grandmother is very dear to me and this is the best way I know how to show it.

Very well performed! I can feel the situation.

I'm in the middle of a like situation. Taking care of my mother in law who is in bed and won't live very long (2 weeks, two months? No one can tell). We're taking care of her 24 hours per day. Luckily she is still at home and aware of everything.
Kevin Ng  I feel for you Photonook and applaud your devotion to taking care of her at home. My grandmother is in an old age home because it is extremely difficult for her children to take care of her 24/7 as they work and the fear is that she could hurt herself during the times when she would be alone.

Alzheimer's is such a terrible illness - I visited her on Friday and we had the same conversation for several hours. I don't have the words to tell you how I felt after seeing her - it was emotionally numbing.

Thank you for your words, I really appreciate it.

Kevin
Photonook  Hi Kevin. I feel fo you. Like you say, Alzheimer's is very, very difficult. I understand that it is virtually impossible to take care of her at home. Your grandmother is physically still their but "she", her mind, isn't.
We are thankful that we can still communicate and talk about the past ... and future.
Take care and stay strong!!!

Kevin, a very sincere and moving picture about a very difficult situation in life published at a time when many people have become highly aware of that life can end any time any day and must never be taken for granted.
Kevin Ng  Some very very poignant words Anders - thank you!!

Very moving picture, with beautiful written words on the page. I survived a series of four heart attacks (that a remember, there were 11 in total) and I was convinced I was not going to survive. In a brief lucid moment between them, I was able to say goodbye. She has that gift of time, too. Many of use never get that chance, so it's precious.
Kevin Ng  I guess the saying that when it's your time, it's your time is quite true. I'm glad that it hasn't been your time Peter and thank you for those words of wisdom.
