Hi,
it´s wonderfull "picture", but I´m not sure it´s real...I´m sorry but I think it´s a good montaje (or you post-proces a lot the surfer...or water).

Wonderful shot, I love the effect you created with your shutter speed, the colours and light are superb and the action brilliant. Very well thought out shot that dazzlers all who see it.
David Orias  Thanks Paula. I have been looking for this shot for few years.

Amazing action. The golden light is great.
David Orias  Yes I was lucky as that light doesn't last long and there was a wave and a surfer to take advantage of it.

excellent, and very rare to have a long-exposure surfing shot! I guess it helped a lot that he was riding right towards you :)
David Orias  Actually riding towards me is a bit harder. The easiest slow shutter panning is when they are travelling parallel to me. The distance is changing less and easier to track the focus. Thanks
Lev Tsimring  oh, are you saying it is a panning shot?! The blur does not look like it is from panning, because you have sharp streaks of water in different directions, and light stripes on ripples on the right, also sharp. That's why it looked more like a motion blur of water to me... And of course I know that panning is easier when the subject is moving across the frame :)
David Orias  It was panned, but like you know, when the subject is approaching the pan excursion is less than when traveling parallel. Therefore, you are correct that more of the blur is from the motion of the water and less from the small amount of panning.
