Harry Eggens We might have to go to Alaska together someday to shoot these majestic birds, Henrik.
Haines is the best option these days, but there also might be a feeding ground back around Homer again in a year or to.
Let's keep in contact about that.

A major reason why I haven´t already been there, is because I don´t know where to go.

I´ll make you a deal.
You act as a guide, and pay for the trip for both of us, and I´ll teach you to take real tacky and sharp photos ..... LOL ! ;-)))

Wished I lived there, but unfortunately I don't.
Apart from a few Sea Eagles no bigger birds then some Buzzards and Kestrels down here in the Netherlands.

Het geluid wat de Bald Eagle voortbrengt is niet echt het mooiste, maar wanneer je er midden tussen in staat krijg je er wel kippenvel van. En dan niet wat betreft de kou :-)

Wat betreft die lens: Ook voor iemand die wel goed getraind is, is het nog steeds geen pretje om de hele dag mee rond te sjouwen en uit de hand te fotograferen, maar daar hebben ze dan ook een statief voor uitgevonden :-)

Pity there is no gathering of Bald Eagles anymore, at least not like it used to be, in Homer. There are other places to shoot the Eagles of course, but not that easy to come as close as one could at the Spit.

Ursula I Abresch Tell me the reason why they don't gather at Homer anymore.

Harry Eggens Because Jean Keene, The Eagle Lady died 2 years ago. She was feeding the Eagles in wintertime for more then 30 years and no one else is allowed to do so.
At this moment therefore there are not that many Eagles around, but some people are trying to set up other feeding places near Homer. Don't know when the Eagles will return, but hopefully they do.
Another good place to photograph the Bald Eagles is Chilkat River near Haines in Alaska. Have been there also. There are a few thousand gathering there every winter, but it's much harder to come close to them.
