A masterpiece of visual contradictions - the sad yet happy glint in the eye of a young girl exhausted from her daily toil, filthy but full of beautiful innocence, the blackened hands in stark contrast with the bangles that are a sign of her eternal femininity and at the fine detail level the sunburst on her clothing that stays close to her heart!! A very moving moment in time that has much to say about our world. Robert H

Though I think she could be one of the untouchables, but I hope so sincerely she is not.
this is the least of a life that some 160 million Indian Untouchables lives,

one of the saddest human subjects ,and the greatest discriminations in human history .
All what I could say in this regards , I wish I was there to take at least those two from her head, though I can lift more.
I offer my deepest respect to HER,our daughter, sister, love ,and mother.

Mihnea Turcu  Thank you, Robert! Very special people! I only stayed with them for like 30 minnutes but I would have loved to stay one day or even two overthere. Makes you meditate a lot upon what jobs we have back home and how much we appreciate them or not!? :)

the image is so sad but after being there i can imagine more into it. i can see the smiles as well.
what did you see?
Mihnea Turcu  Sass, I will try in the next days to make a reportage so i would not put it too much in words now :). But you are right, she was smiling all the time and she was a bit curious on why I was photographing especially her!? She was not aware at all of the very special weight she was having above her head; very strange for us Europeans, and very common for them, the working people! More to come :)
sasson haviv  i wait for more.
i also think that India cannot be seen by western eyes

wei! i like it very much! :o) Bravo!
Tell as the story behind, please!
Mihnea Turcu  The story behind exists and I will try to build up a small reportage of a few images and text to tell it! What you see here is not something rare over there, these women really do work like this. One brick weights i think somewhere around half a kilo and they were carrying couple of hundreds per day! More on this soon. Thank you for your comment, Vlad, and HB :)

superb!
glad you made it to india
Mihnea Turcu  Hey Sasson,
thank you for your comment, yes, I made it to India and it was the most spectacular destination I have ever been in my life! Before going there I knew India is so much photographed and I was asking myslef "what's in there left for me!?". But it doesn't matter..., after the first week, I was so astonished by what I was discovering that it didn't matter to me if I shoot clishes or not! It was just about keeping the moment in front of me at least for myslef...:) So i came back with 15.000 photos, a lot to work in the next months :).
