David F. Brown This is called a 'Mass Dump.' This image depicts a USAF, C-17A Globemaster III, simulating an approach to an airport in a 'Hostile Environment', such as Baghdad, Iraq during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. The aircraft is popping flares to confuse and interfere with any heat seeking ground-to-air missiles being fired at the aircraft.
