Congrats mal, loved this. I saw the place for myself this summer. How did you avoid the fascist caravan park and all the holidaymakers?

Hakan Delic 4 years ago
I'll just join the chorus of admirers in saying that this is pure magic. You've grabbed the light and turned into art. I'm curious though: there seems to be a slight tilt to the left, was that intentional?
Mal Smart  I think that you are right Hakan, it might be slightly tilted! oops! But thank you for the great comment. mal

Outstanding composition, Mal. Powerful composition that just comes out and grabs you by the throat! The sliver of light in the foreground grabs your eye and slings it right into the center of the picture. Very well done, Mate.
Mal Smart  Hi Richard, cheers for the great feedback, It is one of my favs. mal

The abby feels ancient. The blurred clouds really add to a sense of timelessness. An inspiring photo!
Mal Smart  cheers Chris, really glad that you like the snap. all the best. mal
Jon Wild 4 years ago
personally I think the blurring does add something to the ethereal quality of the image - wonderful work.
Mal Smart  it's funny really Jon but It had been quite a windy day and I had planned to get even more blurry dragged cloud effect but as soon as I had set up the tripod the wind died down! lol. Thanks for the great feedback. mal

Love the way you show this. The light gives magic to the scenary in a most spectacular way. A magic that this place should have. Super shot Mal!
Mal Smart  Hi Christofer, It was one of those days that I got a number of images that I'm really happy with, not often that happens for me! lol. mal

superb light Mal..love it..im a bit uncertain about the upper part with the blurred sky..maybe its a bit disturbing in my eyes..but otherwise its a great shot from you again:)
best regards..
Mal Smart  Cheers Willy, with this one I do regret not taking a straight shot without the ir72, perhaps some static clouds would have added more drama to the scene. all the best. mal

Superb shot ! Excellent composition and exceptionnal light. I personally think that the blurring of the upwards part seams not natural and was perhaps not necessary. The power of this shot is enough without this effect. If I am wrong, let me know...Nethertheless, a great shot. Congrats, Fernand
Mal Smart  Hi Fernand, thanks for the great comment. This one was shot using the ir72 filter at 30 secs to try to create the dragged cloud effect, I did take some with an additional ND10 to get the exposure up to a few mins but the sun shifted too quickly to get the nice light shaft but the cloud movement was more exagerated. Again no digital blurring applied. All the best. mal
Fernand Hick  Hi Mal, I didn't see that your pic was an IR, thus with a very long exposure. All is clear and natural. Let's go. Superb work ! Cheers, Fernand.
Mal Smart  Cheers Fernand, but I do take on board some of the valuable comments made! They make a lot of sense. all the best. mal
