Wow....looks fantastic...some kind of magical.
Onw thing I want to know or learn( what ever): who can you made it possible where the person and dogs are still but land and water are in motion? I'll love to know that, if you like to share the secret.

Have a good day,

regards,
Subir

I wonder why I feel nothing... is something wrong with me... or it's just a taste... Mal I see that you stick to your subject matter... regards, Robert
Mal Smart  Hi Robert

Nothing wrong with you at all, it just does not "float your boat" so to speak and I can totally understand that.

One of the things that I have found so very interesting here at 1x is that one mans meat is another mans poison, especially seeing things develop in screening. Images that I care very little for (for what ever reason - technical/mood or whatever) others see something in or in reverse, an image that I fall in love with in screening others dismiss without a second glance. this is exactly why I keep coming back over and over again. The one thing that I can say with absolute certainty is that "I am very glad that I am not the only person that picks all the images that reach the front page" 1x would not be the beast that it is if I were.

What a beauty, Mal.
I'm not often lacking in the word department, but after looking at this one for a very long while, I find I have no words for you... at least none beyond a kindergartner's vocabulary. I just hope you take my speechlessness as a compliment :)
Mandy
Mal Smart  Dearest Mandy, you made me smile after a thoroughly crappy day at work, thank you so much. I have never heard silence sound so nice.

all the very best
mal
Mandy Schoch  Who knew a reply with the word crappy in it could sound so lovely :)) Thank you, Mal.
This one just popped up in the random show... I think what I love most about it is that I can relate so well to the entire feel of this day. It is so familiar to me even though I have never been to this specific place. It reminds me of the zillions of summer days I spent on the beach with my dogs... who are all gone now. Funny that memories can simultaneously be so happy and so sad, you know? And how cool is it that a beautiful photo can instantly trigger such emotion.
At least I found a few words for you today. The speechlessness thing just doesn't sit right with me.
Very best wishes to you :)

Mal, What a perfect name for this place - Grimsby - Desolation is what it feels like..I think you sure captured that perfectly. The processing is excellent and moooodeee for sure. :) You did this with petroleum jelly? It looks like he is at the end of the world. I don't know where this is - but I will look it up right now. Great shot. Congratulations. My best, Phyllis

Okay I went to look and I thought it would be at the end of the world - it is in ye old England. :) And really not so isolated after all. So double congratulations...to you..you created the sense that it is at the end of the world.....
Mal Smart  Phyllis you are so kind and it is a pleasure to read your words.

Yes, it is partly a Vaseline shot. I had the cam on a tripod with the lens fitted a simple cheap cokin warm up filter, a small amount of the Vaseline was smeared on the filter in strategic positions. I took about 20 test shots, applying and re-smearing the gook on the filter until happy - and then just waited for something interesting to happen for the pic.

Grimsby used to be the fishing capitol of the UK with hundreds of trawlers docking there, now a bit of a ghost town since the European fishing quotas decimated the UK'S fishing industry, my tittle alludes to this but you would have to be from Grimsby to get it really. lol

Those are some great looking sheep. I like the way you have shaved the rear legs for ease of grip. Can you tell me how you get the Suspenders on? I just keep getting kicked in the nuts trying to fit them. Cheers.
Mal Smart  the editor of farmers.com has asked me for a reference for your membership, I have advised him to beware!... lol
Andrew Thatcher  I thought he stopped talking to you after he caught you rubbing bull semen all over your Cokin.

I love the sharks in the background! :)
Mal Smart  Grimsby sharks Ursula, usually served with chips. lol. mal
Ursula I Abresch  And some good beer, I hope!
Mal Smart  do sharks drink beer?
Ursula I Abresch  Don't you know, Mal, they eat (and drink) anything they can get. Yep. :)
Mal Smart  yeah, humans and sharks are a bit weird from Grimsby, either served with or without chips and beer. There is a joke about the place, which, I guess can be applied anywhere "what is the best thing about Grimsby?" - "The M180 outta there" (M180 being the highway). In it's defense, there are 2 things positive to say about the place but I forgot them both.
Ursula I Abresch  Hehe, that's like Laramie, Wyoming, the place best seen in your rearview mirror!

I like this simply because it evokes in me that feeling of solitude that wonderful feeling I always get walking along a deserted beach the sound of the sea the taste of salt on my lips yeah Mal this says it all solitude stark beauty gift of light & the three forms of life just being there! Don't ruin it....
Mal Smart  a very cold Grimsby beach early one morning. I had not thought too much about this pic Gerry, I had been hunting for sea scapes but with little success and lack of inspiration and had neglected to look for other photo's on the card and had simply archived them away, glad I had another look some weeks back. all the best. mal

Great lines, wonderful light! Like the way the motion of the sea is captured together with the sharp silhouettes of the man/woman and his/her dogs.
Great one Mal!
