Very good! I really like the composition with the two men behind the lady in the front. She looks absorbed in the books. Was this a snapshot or did you have time to compose?

jacques philippe Thanks Thomas. I did about 3 shot with that lady. I can't say I had very time to compose but was not in a rush. It is more about anticipating a good moment and a relevant framing, being well placed for that and do the capture.

I love books too and it is a wonderfull capture how these people are absorbed by them...

I did others at the same place. I posted 3 of them on my blog (including this one)

Willem de Vlaming I find this one by far the better of the three. The pose of the lady and her dark coat makes this one special. The other people support the strength of the total image here. In the others there is more of a competition between the subjects in the frame.

jacques philippe Yes, me too think it is the best capture out of the three. Problem is technical quality is not the best and the lady too much in shade came out too much underexposed. Had to re-do my editing since then, the one here is terrible (though fair enough when resized for web presentation jpeg).

Willem de Vlaming I see your point regarding the technical qualities. But what you have here is a very strong image depicting something that might need a lot of explaining in say 50 years...

jacques philippe "The love for printed books" ... :) oh yes, sure, the pre-Ipad era.

By the way I had hard time to come up with a good photograph with that subject. These outdoor bookshops (or bookshops that have shells outside) are rather numerous here. I tried and I tried many times before... which tells me that sometimes you need to turn around your subject, get familiar with it (sort of "understand" it) until you can get something decent out of it. It is the same with the metro.

Exposure is not so good though with the lady too much underexposed, and my editing here is awful. Fine for a web .jpg but I had to redo it completely.
