Stone Marten on the Lookout

Some cheeky stone martens climbing up and down the trees in a very quiet part of the forest. They make a lot of noise on the ground, then climb up, look around, and jump down again. A very funny sight, rare seen at broad daylight.

Not that much broad daylight though looking at the ISO and exposure time :-)

Johan.Nieuwerth.com  A bit of both, Chris, because I knew that if we came at the beginning of the evening it would be very quiet in the forest. But actually I was more focused on the Wild Boars (which we also saw a lot!) then this little guy. Let's say it was not a coincidence that my 70-200 was on the camera! Thanks for your comment!

Cool. I thought only the European Pine Marten appeared on the Veluwe. However, I read that the stone marten makes its march from Germany, so you may be right in that this is a Stone Marten. In both cases, still rather unusual to encounter one of these on an evening walk. Even more to make a 1X-worthy picture of it as soon as you do happen to run into one of them. Well done!
Johan.Nieuwerth.com  Now you've got me doubting! I thought of a Stone Marten at first and Googled for it, and some images in the results immediately led me to believe it was correct. Also due to the fact that I once had problems with my car, and the mechanic showed me some completely ruined wires under the hood and said: "Ah, stone martens, yes they like this..." :-)
