The Skies Above
What you see before you is an abandoned church in a small town by the name of Parsonfield in western Maine. Parsonfield is the epitome of the middle of nowhere. There was little more to it than a post office and a few mailboxes. However, this little gem was well worth the trip. After a bit of trickery, and a bit of luck, we were able to breach the hundred-year-old walls. Inside I found some of the most beautiful light I have ever encountered in my life. I am not sure if it was the stained glass or the simple fact hat no one had set foot in this church for 30 years, but whatever the cause the light was nothing less than astounding.

In any event, this was one of my favorites of the exterior. I shot it quickly, and without much thought. Though, upon review I am quite fond of the composition. I experimented quite a bit on the processing end, trying to achieve my mood through toning. I am curious to hear your thoughts, especially in regards to the toning and mood.

See you in a few days. If you simply can’t wait that long, be sure to check out Ryan’s blog (ryanpolhemus.wordpress.com) for a written account of our exploits.
