it's typically the kind of shot that was not awaited
We went out to capture some night shots in Paris, around the Eiffel Tower

And suddenly the storm appeared....

ah, la fameuse! :-) figure toi que j'ai regardé cette série dans les miennes hier, et me suis aperçu pour la première fois que j'avais réussi à choper un éclair... mais il est ridicule comparé à celui-ci ;-) bravo amigo! ;-)

Frank - a surreal sort of look at Paris..you made it look magical - like out of a storybook. It is a beautiful shot and the lightning just adds more ..love the blues here Congratulations. Phyllis

I will have to destroy the magic of this shot
Capture lightning is not that difficult ;-)
first you need a thunderstorm, in Paris, it's the more difficult to have ;-)
The rest is piece of cake

Lightning are quite luminous so you need to be around f/10-f/11 otherwise it will be overexposed
Once you have the correct exposition for the scene (here it was 4s, if I can remember well...)
it's becoming a bit boring
You just have to push on the button...
if a lightning appear while you are open, you can have a winner
otherwise it's direct to trashbin

it's really a story of luck also !!!!!

On a le droit de publier des images de la tour illuminée ?

Pour toute les photos de la Tour Eiffel illuminée, il est nécessaire de spécifier
"SETE-illuminations Pierre Bideau"

et pour toute vente de la photo, il est nécessaire de contacter la SETE (Société d'exploitation de la Tour Eiffel) pour que ton client s'acquitte des droits aupres d'eux

en fait si tu regardes bien, c'est pas la meme version que sur flickr
je l'avais proposé et elle avait été "Not Published"
La nouvelle version a été accepté

anto XIII autre photo ou tu as juste viré les bateaux ?

fbaillet les nef sont les memes
mais traitement différents
bateau en moins, crop différent
Des faisceaux du phare sont en plus
HDR avec d'autres paramètres

mais c'est sur la base des memes raw

The picture is beautiful. I have tried to create similar shot of Eiffel tower the other day, however unsuccessfully.

Since I have the same camera, may I ask what lens has been used to capture this?

Superb moment, it is a very nice night urban picture. However, there are a few areas which seem to be blurred; the rest is amazing.

Spectaculaire, mais floue!! publier des photos de la tour Eiffel " illuminée" sans autorisations est un jeu dangereux.....
vous souhaitez que les gens respectent vos droits, respectez ceux des autres. Tellement français...

Amazing, but blurred, publishing photos of the Eiffel tower "lightened" without authorization is a dangerous game..
you want others to respect your property, respect other's property.So French...
