COFFEE
The contrast between the mans condition and the pristine, almost virgin-white, paper coffee cup is what immediately drew me into taking the picture. I had his full permission to take the picture.

Aha the 13th apostle makes a second appearance on the pages of 1X it might have been 3 had he not wanted to throw his coffee at me on another occasion. Like Andre I like the conversion & his mournful doleful look out of place when I think back to the time we connected in such an aggressive & unforgiving way. Well done!
Colmar Wocke  gerard,

Yes - by now a well-known character here on OneXposure!

Thanks for the note and go well.

2nd and less hurried look. I feel a real fascination with this portrait - I find this image arouses and hold my attention. I believe that is mainly because of his face and expression (eyes). Puzzlement, yet I sense sadness. The contrast with the cup that you refer to is noted, and I see that. However, the way that you have edited has a lot to do with the appeal here. Very enjoyable indeed.
Colmar Wocke  Andre,

Lovely to read a second comment from you and thanks for the encouragement to continue.

Go well.

Great portrait! I ask this question on authors of all candid/street pictures I like:

did you take his permission before taking the shot? Did you talk with him, engage with him, to understand what you wanted to portray?

Thanks!
Colmar Wocke  prash,

I had his full permission to take the shot, yes. I spent some time with him, speaking to him and "getting to know him".

Thanks for the note and go well.

Colmar
prash  Thanks for the reply. Carry on the great work:-)
I have seen this before and it moved me. It still does! Love it...
Colmar Wocke  Kaveh,

I am pleased that you have remembered it from Critique. Yes, it does leave an impression - the severe contrast between him and the virgin-clean "perfect society" coffee cup.

Thank you for taking the time to leave me a note. It is exactly this kind of gesture that ends up making both OneXposure and the world a wonderful place!

My thanks to you and go well.

Hello Colmar,

i still remember your second publication from "the laughing barber" and the long critique session about it. Followed by the "salvation at hand" and "dejected at the bottom" and all the others wonderful pictures in between. Now this one. Seems the guy is well known and also discussed so much. Finally you did go back and managed this picture well and succeed not only for a publication Colmar but for your self and you got another one fine in your really nice to look at portfolio! Critique is a good place!!!

Congrats to you Colmar and please keep it up with this and many more picture who i am sure will follow!

Robert
Colmar Wocke  Meister,

Your text here acts as so much encouragement to me - from a Meister it means much. Keep up your own good work and go well.

Colmar - a wonderful portrait and I especially like this in b/w. It sort of transfers over to street too (more easily). I think his expression is appealing, and especially his darkened eyes; very dramatic. Also, he has layers on, and each one with all its details stands out so beautifully. An excellent shot - Bravo. My best, Phyllis.
Colmar Wocke  Phyllis,

Pleased to, as always, to read your sentiments. A bit of luck and hey, that did it!

Go well.
