Kubuswoningen (Dutch: cube houses), are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in The Netherlands. They were designed by architect Piet Blom in 1984. The houses in Rotterdam are located on Overblaak Street, beside the Blaak Subway Station.

Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house and placed it with one point upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. There are 38 small cubes (containing a four room apartment over three stories with a total floor area of about 100 m2) and two so called 'super-cubes', all attached to each other.

He saw his design as a tree and the entire complex as a forest, hence the name "Blaakse Bos" (Dutch: Blaak forest).

Deze kende ik nog niet van je Frédéric, maar hij is supertof!! Heb er jaren onderdoor gereden en gelopen toen ik nog in Rotterdam woonde. Ze doen het slecht in de verkoop, maar blijven wel eyecatchers en fotogeniek, getuige je mooie plaat!

Papafrezzo  Yes, there is a youth hostel in one of the bigger ones, isn't there? Very nice buildings, but I guess not very practical.

Heel sterk, de centrale compositie doet de architectuur het sterkste uitkomen. De heldere, blauwe lucht is in goed contrast met de oranje gebouwen.

A very convincing symmetrical shot. I personally like your other picture (the chaotic one) better. But there's a nice geometrical calmness in this one.
