A nice pic indeed... but the story I find it too much obvious, too much "in your face"... What about if it was her holding the bill instead ? and the guy smoking. I think it will be more ambiguous and more interesting.

This is wonderful street composition and is open for so many interpretations. As a viewer I don't really care what is "the real story", it is up to my imagination to create one.

I think some of you may have 'misinterpreted' the message... that is his wife (notice he is wearing a wedding ring) sending him to buy some food in local supermarket (shopping list is in his other hand)... she is in charge of the household finances... ;) ;)

what I think about the photo... difficult crop to master, I would say that the car and the man are okay-framed, while the lady is maybe not so perfectly cropped (but I have lot of prejudices about composition and cropping), her hand is okay, legs so so (crop-wise) and the crop at the top for me not so pleasing (but I know that the cut has to be done somewhere)... sharpness is okay (my taste) though if you have allowed for more DoF maybe having both his and her hand in sharp focus might have been better... her outfit with cigarette and his look as if reveals a 'true' story... the writing on the side mirror is Cadillac... intriguing shot... a 'core' street photographers may object to the fact that (as I understand) this photo is staged, but for me who is not bound by such a 'rule' this does not matter... of course for me the photo is not great (my personal taste) but is okay (main objection being framing)...

KoPi staged. 3 of the 4 last additions to 'street' are most likely completely staged. It's the norm on 1x now ;-)

Romanas N. It's the first time here in 1x that I see frustration of this kind. Hope it's the last one. Critique is always good and it's what I personally expect from all these pro's hangin' here, but not frustration over the circumstances the work was done.

Remember the famous photo "The Kiss" of 1945 made by Alfred Eisenstaedt right after the WW2 ended? In case you didn't know, it's not quite as romantic as it might seem. (http://www.neatorama.com/2007/01/02/13-photographs-that-changed-the-world/) Nonetheless, it's a great shot regardless of context. So is this one.

A whole story in one image, this is brilliant, such an intersting photograph.
Just like an old still from a James Dean movie, I really like this, especially the name on the wing mirror.
