Ian James No problem, When I see shots like this I wonder what the scene would look like in reality. I assume you metered for the stairs? What lense did you use?

KPK The real scene looks quite similar, Ian. Some disturbing objects removed and a slight glow effect added. I used the Olympus 9-18 mm lens at 9 mm (what is equivalent to 18 mm in 35 mm film format).

Is this a composite or does the location actually look like that? It looks almost like CGI with a photo of a staircase in it.

KPK No composite! The photo shows the place how it looks in reality. I only removed some disturbing objects. Although I gave the image a specific color toning, it differs not very much from what you would see with your own eyes at the location out there.

Hey, That's something KPK. I'm not sure if you did this consciously or else but either way it's a great photo. specially, from this aspect in which you elicit symmetry from two points of view. one from where you stood, and another from top of the staircase... this is what I can call it 3d symmetry!

There is only one point of view in this image, it's a single shot. I guess the 3D effect comes from the bright walls besides the staicase and because the foor is a mirror!

Mina I am aware that being a 2D photo KPK. as far as I am concerned the 3D symmetry or let's say central symmetry which is not seen from this point that you shot your photo can be seen from the top... this is while the frame's visible symmetry is the 2D one!

well! something like capturing a time-place photo.

Finding a specific location often is a result of correspondence/interchange with other photographers.

But more important is, when I visit a location that was photographed before but fascinates me to such an extent that I want to shoot it by myself, I always try to find a way to make the result different from what I saw before. In this case it was very difficult to achieve that, because you cannot use very different points of view there. So a bit cleaning work (as suspected by Martin a bit below here), adding a slight glow effect and giving the image a special color toning makes it "my" image :-)

Monique a bit of your soul...and a bit of your own vision and we can enjoy such a wonderful views.
