Wonderful shot Clyde!
Which film did you use?
Clyde Beamer  Thanks Tim. This shot was Velvia 50 converted to B&W in PS.
Tim Corbeel  Thanks Clyde! Positive film...should try it again once. Had some bad experience with positive film (Provia 100F) a few months back and didn't use it again since then. :D
Clyde Beamer  I have also tried and given up on color negative films. I now shoot either b&w negative or Velvia or digital for color.

Love the chaos in the calm. Wonderful work Clyde, truly fantastic!
Clyde Beamer  Thanks man!! Truly a wonderful place. So close to a huge, heavily traveled NP and almost nobody knows about it, so you can really get alone there most days. I got there at 6:30am, nobody else anywhere, only saw one other family by 10 or so when I left. And, it's BLM land, so you could actually live there in a motorhome if you wanted. Cool thing most don't know about BLM land, you can literally live on it for years and years, you just have to move every 90 days or so...move can mean a few hundred yards. It's our land until the Fed's do a mineral lease then the corp's take control. Most of it is still wide open.

Very beautiful work, Clyde, just great, like it a lot! Keep it up!
Clyde Beamer  Thanks man!! I tried a few with the Lensbaby at this place but didn't like them very much. I still haven't really figured that thing out yet. I think I need to spend a couple of days just playing with it.

Beautiful light and tones.
Clyde Beamer  The sky was completely bland right at sunrise. But within about 30 minutes these clouds started forming and the light was a bit diffused by them. Turned out really nice! Thanks Florin!

This is so West! I love it! I really like that play of shadows, lit up areas. The shadows look like they're trying to grab the things that I don't know what they're called (that stick up out of the ground, sorry). Anyway. I also like the sort of rolling shapes in the front part of the image.
Clyde Beamer  I saw this shot when I was up on another part of the left part that's making the shadows. I have a shot that's pretty much 90 degrees of axis of this with a high angle, not nearly as good. So, I walked down there and this is just about right what I thought I would see. I love the depth of this one. And yes, wild wild west look. Scenes from several movies & tv shows have been shot here: Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, The Gate II, Lost in Space, and Planet of the Apes to mention a few. A must see that most miss when visiting Death Valley.

Quoting form wiki: "The unusual landscape consists of more than 500 tufa spires (porous rock formed as a deposit from springs of streams), some as high as 140 feet, rising from the bed of the Searles Lake (dry) basin."

Clyde Beamer  It's right on the way to DV, at least the way I go. I drive there in about 2.25 hours, flying low.
