The Dark Traveler

Left alone to disintegrate on a windblown, misty beach in Peloponnese, Dimitrios proved to be every bit as enchanting as in my dreams. Haunting and haunted, broken but not yet dead, it still stands upright, a ghostly mirage condemned to travel forever through misty mornings, fiery sunsets and sunrises, through rain and thunderstorms, gloomy skies and starry nights, through time but never through space, never leaving the place that's been eating it away for almost 30 years now.

A lovely image and such beautiful words too. I also found the write up about yourself really interesting. I have never been to Greece but will visit one day soon, as my son is getting married in Santorini. Your first image looks so peacefull and somewhere to sit and watch the sun go down while eating olives and drinking red wine. I wish I was there.

Quite a fantastic shot, which also demonstrates the amplitude of your talent when compared to your previous published photograph "Underneath the Veil" and its beautiful hills in the mist!

This decayed ship also reminds me of realistic Deutch painting from XVI and XVII century, depicting splendid buffets of exotic food or bouquets of lush flowers, but always with a twist of lemon rotting or an insect eating the leaves. Your photograph, as these paintings, reminds us that everything passes except the beauty of art. Kudos for this! :cuddle:

What a lovely composition...such a gorgeous blend of colours!!
I am assuming the exposure was 15 seconds...interested to know if you used any filters ?

Mary Kay Almost correct Charlie, the exposure was 10 seconds and I used a Hoya ND8 to achieve a longer exposure and a Lee 0.9 soft grad for the sky. Very glad you like it, many thanks!
