The pleasure is stopped when the addiction cannot be stopped... :) Good idea Kevin.
Kevin Ng  Long long time no talk Cath - hope you and the family are well. BTW - I think you hit it on the nose about addiction...:))

Yes, everything can be addictive... .
Where stops the pleasure and where begins the addiction...?

A great work. I like it.
Best wishes, Monica
Kevin Ng  Thanks Monica - glad you like it - and to answer your question of where stops the pleasure and begins the addiction? - I haven't quite figured that one out yet :)))))

regards, Kevin
Monica  Probably there are no "right" solution.
But I think the measure is crucial.
Best wishes, Monica
He he ... you really got a lot of reaction on this one. Looks like you hit a nerve. Well done. ;)

Don't forget Kevin, don't drink & drive! Cool one ;-)

I don't know which one of the addictions worst, you need some to be published here (lol)... Excellent Kevin:-))
Kevin Ng  :))) I'm probably just as bad as the next when it comes to this site!! Thank you Ben, for your words and, what is now the norm, your support. Best regards, Kevin

I guess you started with easy ones (coke) and continued with heavier and more subliminal (1x)...thanks for the honesty and the heart to bring it up, what many (me included) tend to deny. Well done!
Kevin Ng  Thank you very much Matjaz!

I am one of the ones that loved it in screening Kevin. It's very intense, really enjoy it. I wonder though why it's in Humour, but it doesn't matter. the shot is great.
Kevin Ng  Thank you Nicolas - my intent with this was more a tongue in cheek statement about addiction to this site rather than some of the much more serious addictions that people may have.

Yes, category does not matter as long as it affects you...and I'm glad it does - thank you for your words - best regards, Kevin

Are you still in good shape after all these cigarettes, alcohol, coke (?)... or was it to better look at the 1x book ??? :))

In any case... it's a good idea, a very good photo, and some addictions are great :))
Kevin Ng  Hey Marie - thank you - yes, corn starch can be addictive sometimes :))) Hope all is well with you, remember to take care of yourself. Best regards, Kevin
MMarie  :)) I did not thing of corn starch.. but flour.., as I know your humour..
ps : I'm addicted to smily people and... chocolate .. thanks for caring as well.

Kevin Ng  thanks for clarifying ANDU - I appreciate the comments!

Kevin, very clever! The size of that bag is amazing.:) I like the background a lot it adds to the idea of an addiction. This could be a series..in next scene are the pictures taken after using that much coke! It is actually quite realistic looking. Great job! :) My best, Phyllis
Kevin Ng  A series??? - that's too scary to contemplate cause I'll actually have to come up with more ideas, and corn starch :)))) Glad you appreciate the idea behind this Phyllis!

Hi Kevin. Please share some Exif data on this image if you wish. I do like the theme, albeit a bit constructed, but I am more interested in why you opted for so many middle tones. Obviously available light, but very little tonal adjustments afterwards to
enhance mood. Then I guess tounge-in-cheek humour was the motivator. But please share more of the data and your motivation so I understand your image better.
Kevin Ng  Hey Andre,

I don't think the Exif data will tell you anything about the picture as you see it here because of the added texture. However, if you like, I can send you the original without the texture - just tell me your email address by OEmail.

This is probably one of the first pictures that I've submitted that received so many comments in screening - ranging from "how can you condone drug abuse" to "I love the idea".

My entire point with this pic was, as you have alluded to, a tongue-in-cheek statement about the obsession or addiction with publication. The pic was taken under a two flash off camera setup. The main flash was triggered through a softbox at approx 45* to the table of stuff and I had another (bare) flash right behind the table shooting up.

The texture is what created those grey tones you refer to and for me, it was a necessary part of the picture to create a "hazy" feel - not a drug haze but a psychological haze that blinds us when we are obsessed.

With the texture, I blended it into the pic in stages, and lightly erased some of the texture to bring some clarity to the various objects there, including myself. I also added a little bit of noise to enhance that haze feeling. I hope that helps and let me know if you want any more info. Hope things are well with you - it's been too long since we've chatted.

Regards,
Kevin

Andre du Plessis  Hi Kevin. Yes it has been a long time since we chatted. I replied to your query last week, however, do not know if you have received it.
I have to say - I did not notice any texture overlay here, partly because It was so cleverly done, and partly because I did not expect you to use one. And partly because I never think of overlays - unless they are 'in your face'.
I simply thought that you emphasised the the low light noise to enhance the motif, which it certainly did. Was just curious about your motivation, for I want to learn how your eye and mind wanted us to see this.
So thanks for sharing this information - as mentioned before, I shall understand your picture better now.
Kevin Ng  I did get the reply - thank you - going through a bunch of considerations right now and a lot of replies to review as well. You'll hear from me (hopefully) shortly - best regards, Kevin

With so much addictions it's important to get your priorities straight.
Needless to say that you've got to get rid of the Nikon first,
After that life becomes much more easy :)

I'm just being silly.
Excellent work you've done here, especially how you applied the texture, it's perfect!
Kevin Ng  Thank you very much Jeroen - that's the first time I've ever gotten any kind of kudos on my PS skills and I can assure you that they are still very rudimentary.

Not trying to get into that mutual respect lovey dovey stuff, but I do have to say that I very much admire your work.

regards, Kevin

P.S. - are there other brands besides Nikon?? :)))

I think you read my comment in screening, it had the book no way was this to be rejected :p and of course it was like by the crew...:p

Very clever thought Kevin and very fine execution...however I hope that the white stuff is sugar or flour and not anything else...:)

So I guess that would be me after about 3-4 years from now with no publications...haha!
Kevin Ng  So that was you in screening :)) Yes, the white stuff is corn starch - just in case your interested, it's not a good prop to use, it clings to the glass and I had to clean that glass to make those straight lines. At least you now know what's the last resort to get published :)))

I knew this pic would be a little controversial if it got through - for those out there who thought this was about drugs - NO, it's NOT! It's a statement about not taking publication here so seriously!

Thanks for taking the time to comment Fadi - I appreciate it
