Dear sasson. As Gerard mentioned below - I was very touched by this image, and it was a pleasure to assist with some final editig. However, I really do not think that my editing was the decider here - the image was superb to start with. The work was already done by you - I simply tried to re-inforce the essense of what I saw in this man's face, and down played the less essential aspects. I enjoy your work immensely, and appreciate the gravitas that your compositions achieve. Well done with this one, Andre

Hey man! Great image, don't worry about the post-processing thing, in the end if the image wasn't strong it wouldn't work with the most masterful processing. Don't exaggerate that it will take you long to master the post-processing. :) Just focus, put your energy in it and you can get to a high level in no time!

An excellent portrait, Sasson, I really don't think that processing played a huge part in this, though I really love Andre's works and pp skills, this is wonderfuly captured, like it a lot!

sasson haviv thank you codrin:) the image is good to start with but it is such a difficult decision with the wrinkled face. Andre gave it such a natural look with a lot of dignity. i hope that in few more months i could do good processing of BW. i still have many images to submit here once i get better... i wish there was an easy way to learn processing, i find that capturing the image is so much easier.
in any case i made a mistake by submitting it... should have waited until i am happy enough with my own results

sasson haviv of course i wouldn't take credit for something i didn't do... and i owe Andre a lot for his willingness to help and teach me. this is the only version i showed, but i did show my version to Andre and Rui...

Great portrait Sasson ...yes I like the details on his face.

sasson haviv thanks Ricky:) he is been photographed by many in israel but usually they choose to enhance his wrinkled skin.. my version is less delicate than this one and so i decided to go with Andre's that does more justice with him.

Do not to worry about the post processing.
But you are the one who put the soul by taking this picture.

Has so much in this face a line for every year and eyes deeply connected to the inner self. A very strong portrait. Well done Sasson. I remember discussing his efforts with Andre. He was very proud to have been able to help.

sasson haviv thanks gerard :) he is 86 years old and very proud of that. i spoke to him with my limited Arabic which i hope to improve. he loves sitting out in the sun and smokes quite a lot, so we shared a few cigarettes :) superb editing by Andre on this one

Wow, that one was yours! Congrats! I loved it in the screening already.

And I think it is fine that you are so honest to tell that you got help in the post work. And you told it immediately.

And at Mal: I tried to find out about how the screening works, if it is possible to delete a photo after screening ( in the end Sassi told me that not), what I need to pay attention on but I can´t find such infos. If there are special points 1 x wants us to pay attention on infos should be given clearly at a main position. Or did I only not find those infos? Help me please! One of the screeners already mentioned a few weeks ago that it must be a mistake that there are no infos under the FAQs but they are still not there...!

it was my mistake....

this superb editing is not by me. the editing was done by Andre du plessis and it will take me long time before i reach this level. my version although has the strong impact doesnt have the special dignity that Andre does both in capturing the image and the editing. this is the only image i will publish here that the editing was done by others but i wanted to do justice with Abu razi. so thank you very much Andre my friend and mentor:) you are the best !

Mal Smart lets let this one slip by Sassi, the image is obviously strong on its on merit but we do ask that all elements in a photo be the photog's work, including the post work, we are not keen on colaborations. However, it's a lovely pic, it stays. mal

sasson haviv thank you phyllis but i need many books:) at least i know my raw material is good enough. the editing was done by andre and i belive my version would have gotten published as well but wouldnt do justice to Abu razi.
