Desensitized
Gare Montparnasse, Paris.
I chatted with a guy just near me whilst I took 2 or 3 shots. He was getting what I was trying to do!

Reminds me of the film "Koyaniskansi" which I have seen over and over and find powerful. Congrats on the capture and Happy New Year! :) My best, Phyllis

A meaningful capture to begin with, and a very moody light and tone to it as well--very well done.

Really dig the message in this shot. Didn't even need a title IMO. The pic says it all.
jacques philippe  Thanks Dave,

The "funny" thing about this pic is that I shoot with the message to deliver very consciously. In a way it is more conceptual than street. I think it modestly illustrates one thing that I find fascinating. Pictures are mere points of view. It is not "true" that people here are "desensitized", I don't know whether they are or not but this scenery can't speak for that. These are just commuters going to get their train and passing along a poster (shoot is at a train station entrance). But the capture force the idea of desensitization whereas it is just some banal everyday situation with no genuine connection to the idea. It makes this specific moment of space/time being a lie in a way. I guess it is somewhat what Garry Winogrand referred to when he said "When you put four edges around some facts, you change those facts". I find it fascinating.

Happy New Year to you and your family.
JBA  And it's interesting how a title can re-inforce or even direct the 'message'. The camera always lies ;-) Really excellent shot btw.

Very elegant how the railing fragments to the left and right corresponds to the barbed wire.

Splendid one Jacques! Great mood and light, although I think a square crop may have been more ideal. ;)
jacques philippe  Thanks Alex,

I first considered to crop out more on left+right as you suggested. Probably better in a way - though I think that the blurry people on left need some space in front of them. But I am in a phase where I force myself to keep most of the original frame and avoid too much cropping unless it is not seen when framing. It is more in the purpose of being less lousy at the moment of the shoot.

Happy New Year to you
