Superb portrait. In my opinion this rivals the " AFGHAN GIRL " as one of the most evocative images EVER taken. It is so powerful - it just demands a reaction !!!

Despite the fact that this photograph has been found perfect in both tehnicial and esthetical aspects, I am afraid I can not agree on these statements.

The gap on the right is disturbing the composition as well as the vertical line on the right. Exposure is only so so and tone wise this photo has some problems.

Esthetically, this photograph is an epic fail since there is nothing esthetic in a crying nine years old girl with mustache.

Ethically, using children, tears and religion trilogy is downright wrong if not cheating. When children & tears & religion gets in the photograph, the target of the comments changes into the three instead of how good the photograph is composed.

Thanks for reading till the end.
Taci  Do you have knowledge about the Ashura mourning? I had no ... If you've written is meaningless, would now ...
Cornellius  I do know what ashura is so you are in agreement with me, this is just the abuse of religion, children and emotional states. It is a common abuse done by Turkish photographers who follow the tren 40 years behind.

Wherever you go, there is always someone shooting photographs of old people, beggars, children and religious figures, and this someone is 90% a Turk.

PS I am not a racist, choose your vice fotokritik.com or whatever and see for yourself that I am simply pointing a simple fact.
lovro  Hi Cornelius,
I agree with you partially but think your comment is quite strong for this image,
You exposed some facts that maybe could be true (children tears religion trilogy..)
My opinion is that this image should be posted as documentary not portrait
and as a documentary shot the technical aspects you've exposed are not relevant
considering that the author cough in a great way an emotional situation common to all of us.
Looking at this image nobody was happy seeing this young girls tears , maybe only a few of us
thought why is she crying , it should be nice the author wrote a story if there's one to write,
maybe the girl is not crying because of she is sad (even if it dont look at me she is crying because she's happy).
Anyway ,my opinion, that is well captured shot showing an emotional situation of a young girl doesent meter
what's her religion
regards
