Can you play me a memory?
Today, Ryan and I returned to the streets. We were in search of new faces for our ongoing project, Impressions. It felt good to get back out there interacting with people on the street once again. However, it appears that Wednesday afternoon is not the best time to find interesting goings on.

At any rate, we did run across a few prospects, today’s post being the most talented (and sober) of the lot. This young fellow was propped up against a fence in the Old Port. His music wasn’t particularly my taste, but he certainly was a nice guy, and seemed at home in front of the lens.

I experimented with several angles before finally laying down beside this sidewalk Billy Joel to capture the shot. I often find the more discomfort the photographer endures, the better the shot. Deep shadows often result from such low angles; I counteracted this with an off-camera fill.

All in all, I really enjoy this shot. I feel the angle and toning combine to create a unique street portrait.
